Default A Choice of Bows

Greetings Rangers

I have read up on the posts that compare the different types of bows, taking into account RoF, Arc size, Accuracy, and Range. I am trying to decide between using a Hornbow or a Recurve bow, and am wondering if I might elicit the opinions of those who have used both. I have read that the Hornbow is best for most damage per shot because of its built-in 10% armor penetration, but am aware that the Recurve variety offers a "good" accuracy rating compared to a "medium" rating for the Hornbow.

I am considering buying Custo's Hornbow or Benwah's Recurve, which both have identical stats on them. Anyone lean one way or another here? Or, perhaps, to another bow type altogether?

My thanks../salute

Why not take both? You have 4 weapon slots, and both are useful under different circumstances.

Hornbows are really only good for spiking, the lower attack rate and lower accuracy just hurts too much. I strongly prefer recurves as a "general" bow because there's really nothing it can't do. Rangers also usually pack interrupts, and the recurve bow is by far the best bow to interrupt with.

At any rate, 10% armor penetration really isn't that big a damage bonus, especially if many of your shots miss.

Hornbows are only for spiking, like said.

So recurve is the one to go with if you only have 1 bow....Though a ranger should have atleast 1 of each kind of bow...

For just general propose in PvE I prefer a Shortbow, but I've heard alot of Shortbow hate lately.

Question

Recurve = Interrupts
Longbow = Pulling/attacking without being attacked back (off a ledge/cliff, like in The Jade Quarry)
Shortbow = Damage (Barrage, anyone?)
Hornbow = PvP spike
